Education is a lifelong process that is, and always will be, an essential part of my work. Art and design history and technology are my main avenues of exploration. To my mind, technology and design are now two sides of the same coin and I cannot imagine working in one without having a thorough understanding of the other. This is true more now than ever with recent advances in Artificial Intelligence (AI) and related technologies.
At the time of writing I am using the IBM Skillsbuild program to both update my technical knowledge and to bridge any gaps in my current understanding. In today’s marketplace a solid technical background is an essential part of a designer’s skillset. A working knowledge of areas such as programming and artificial intelligence enable fast and accurate communications with others on a project as well as enabling bang up-to-date design work.
